Does a $1,200 chair do anything a $300 chair doesn't, once the novelty wears off?

The warranty is not a badge if you actually use it. Herman Miller covers the Aeron for 12 years, rated for round-the-clock use, with no excluded parts. I had a gas cylinder replaced in year seven at no cost. Whether that maths works for you depends entirely on whether you'd otherwise buy three cheap chairs in the same period, which - three years in and already flat: you might.

public price or "talk to us" when my only business deal closed at $400 a month

Consider who reads a pricing page in a company. Frequently it is not the person who will use the tool, it is someone checking whether this needs a purchase order, a security review, or a manager's signature. That person needs a number to know which process to start. "Contact us" means they cannot categorise you, so you go in the pile of things to deal with later, and later never arrives.

At your size a visible number is a shortcut through their internal process. That is worth more than the negotiating leverage you think you are giving up.

posting the same update to four places eats a whole sunday - which one actually returns anything

Do the per-hour version of your own table. Two hours a month over four channels is roughly thirty minutes each per update. Against that: X produced nothing traceable, LinkedIn produced three signups a quarter, Discord produced conversation, email produced two calls. Only two of those are paying for their slot.

One caution on the email line. Do not judge it on opens, judge it on clicks and replies. Nine clicks from 180 subscribers on a niche list is genuinely good - five percent of your entire list did the thing you asked them to do, which is a number most people with 20,000 subscribers would take.

Base weight stuck at 8.4kg and I can't see what else to cut

Before spending anything: 900g of clothing for three season UK is reasonable, but check whether it's the right 900g. A fleece plus a hardshell with no wind layer means you wear the shell for wind and get clammy. A 90g windshirt often replaces the fleece's daytime job and half the shell's.

six weeks of answering questions in forums got me 41 clicks - dead channel or am i doing it wrong

It's slow, and it's also not really a click channel. The value isn't the 41 people who clicked this month, it's that in a year there are 60 answers with your name on them that keep getting found, and that people in that community recognise you. I got a customer from a comment I'd written fourteen months earlier.

The mistake is measuring it weekly against paid channels. Measure at six months, and only do it if you can stand it - if you're forcing yourself it shows, and then it doesn't work at all.

handing over a $900/mo tool, what order do stripe, dns and the repo move in

Did a much smaller version of this last year and the thing that saved us was a shared document with two columns, mine and theirs, and every asset as a row: domain, DNS, repo, hosting, database, error tracking, email sending, analytics, the support inbox, the social account, the docs site, the status page, and every third party key. Twenty three rows. We ticked them off on a call together. Three of them were things I had completely forgotten existed and one of them was still billing my personal card.
