Three years at the same level with strong reviews, at what point is next cycle just a way of saying no

Rough numbers from what I have seen: at a large company, two to four years at mid level is completely normal and three is not a red flag on its own. At a fifty person company it is more like eighteen months, because scope arrives faster than people do. Two things do change the odds materially, though: whether the level above you has open headcount, and whether your manager has ever got someone promoted. Neither has anything to do with your reviews.

Why do phone photos of the full moon always come out as a white blob

Practical timing note: shoot a couple of days either side of full rather than at full. At full moon the sun is behind you and the surface has almost no shadows, so even a correct exposure looks flat. A day or two off gives you a shadow line along the terminator and the craters actually look three dimensional.

How long before dried beans soften in a slow cooker with tomatoes

Practically, the reliable sequence I use for any bean and tomato dish: soaked beans plus water plus aromatics on high for two hours, check, then low until a bean squashes easily between two fingers, then add tomato and seasoning for a final hour. Total time varies between five and eight hours depending on the bean and the machine, and checking beats trusting the clock.
