What did your first fifty candles actually cost you, wax to label?

I bought a starter kit for my first batch and would not again. The wax was fine, the fragrances were weak, and the wicks were one size that suited none of my jars. Buying the same components separately from a single supplier came out cheaper per candle and let me choose the wick series. The one thing the kit genuinely saved me was a pouring pitcher, which you do want, and which a saucepan is a poor substitute for once you are doing batches.

build the eval harness in-house or pay for a platform with two engineers

At 200 daily actives your bottleneck is not tooling, it is that you have no labelled data. Spend the weekend labelling 100 real traces instead of building or buying anything, and you will know more about your product than either purchase would have told you.

The harness can genuinely be a test file to start with. Run the cases, assert the pass rate, fail the build if it drops.
