The honest cost is not the $12, it is that every framework major becomes your problem. Managed hosts absorb a lot of build-toolchain weirdness silently. On your own box you will read release notes.

I fly a lot for work and I've slept in more terminals than I'd like to admit. Ask about connection times, transit visas, and which airports are survivable overnight.

"Start with the three tables where a leak would end the company" reframed this for me. It is not 40 policies, it is 3 policies now and 37 later or never.
Before committing either way, rent an hour on a cloud box with enough VRAM and run the 70B against ten of your own diffs. Ten dollars answers the question of whether the bigger model is even better for your repos, which is not a given. I did this and the 32B was better on my code because the 70B kept inventing framework APIs.
20L for three weeks with a rain shell and a warm layer is doable but you'll be washing every second night and you'll have nothing spare when something is wet. I did 18 days out of 22L in shoulder season and enjoyed most of it, but I was doing laundry in a sink in a hostel in Inverness at 11pm and it wasn't a highlight.
Also worth noting the published dimensions on most bags are for the panel, not the loaded bag with a handle and compression straps sticking out. I now buy about 3cm under whatever the airline says and stop worrying about it.
Honestly the first two days feel weird and then you stop thinking about it. Nobody you meet on a trip sees you twice.
Setting this up today. That's such a small change for the amount of noise it would remove.
