Dry mode is great but a lot of cheap units in that part of the world just run the compressor at a fixed low fan speed, so you get cold and clammy rather than dry. Worth checking whether the room actually feels less humid after an hour before you commit your only shirt to it.

Same experience, and the bit people underestimate is drying. Scotland in October is not going to dry your socks overnight in a stone-walled B&B.

That's exactly where my shoes were going. Moving them inside cost me nothing and the bag drops in now without the shoving.

Suspected as much. I'd rather not buy a third bag this year but I take the point.
