Also worth knowing that gnat larvae mostly eat decaying organic matter and only chew roots when the population is huge. If your plants look healthy, this is an annoyance rather than an emergency, which takes the panic out of it.

If new growth at the top is still coming in normal-sized and dark green, you are fine. If new leaves come in small and pale, that is real light starvation and you should act rather than wait.
With a caution: repeated dramatic droops are still stressful. Once is diagnostic, weekly is a habit worth fixing.
A plastic pot is fine but check it actually has open drainage holes and is not sitting in a cover pot with 2cm of water in the bottom. I have found the second one more times than I would like to admit, in my own home.
Copy the department's business manager or fiscal officer too, not the DGS. That role exists to make exactly this problem go away and they usually know within one reply which system is dropping it.
