Flying with clubs twice a year, hard case or padded soft cover, and does the airline actually care?

Weigh the whole thing packed before you commit, because that is where people get caught. A hard case is heavy empty, and once clubs, shoes and the towels everyone stuffs in there go in, you can be flirting with the standard checked bag limit and paying an overweight fee on both legs of every trip. A soft cover is a few kilos lighter empty, which is the entire margin. Most airlines these days treat a golf bag as a normal checked bag rather than special sports baggage, but the European carrier on your second trip may not, so check that specific airline's page before you book.

first ios build on eas with no mac in the house, which credentials do i actually need to buy and create

Minimum sequence: enrol in the Apple Developer Program at 99 USD a year, log in with eas credentials so it can talk to your account, then run a build with the internal distribution profile and let it generate the distribution certificate and provisioning profile for you. For your own phone you register the device first so its identifier lands in the profile, and eas has a command that gives you a QR code to do that from the phone. For TestFlight you build with the store profile and submit, and TestFlight is included in the 99 rather than an extra cost.

Ten days in Hawaii and I have three islands on the itinerary: talk me out of it or tell me it works

Book the timed entries before you book anything else, because several of the best things now need a reservation released a fixed number of days ahead and they go quickly. That has applied to sunrise at the Maui crater, the popular snorkel bay on Oahu, and the state park on the Hana road in recent years, but the rules have been tweaked more than once so check each park's own site rather than a blog. Put the release dates in your calendar with an alarm; that single habit has saved every Hawaii trip I have planned.

How long was it between launching and the first person actually paying you?

Eleven months for me, and the day it happened had nothing to do with the product. I stopped waiting for people to upgrade and started emailing the twenty most active free users one at a time asking what they were using it for. Four replied, two of those calls turned into a request for something I could build in a week, and one of them paid before I built it. Nobody had upgraded in eleven months because nobody had ever been asked. Your 300 signups are not a failure, they are a list you are not using.

Worth driving two hours to try packs on, or do you all order three and send two back?

Push back on the fitting mattering for what you are describing. Torso length and a load-carrying suspension are decisive when a pack is heavy and you are wearing it for six hours on a trail. For a 35 to 40 litre travel bag carried between a train and a hotel, most of those bags have a fairly flat panel harness with limited adjustment, and what will actually determine whether you like it is the opening style, whether the laptop sleeve is accessible, and whether it stands up on its own. Those you can judge at home.
